Share Calculator
Work out buy cost, sell value, break-even price, weighted average and profit on NEPSE trades — with broker commission, SEBON fee, DP charge and capital gains tax already counted.
Five Calculators on One Page
Share Buy Calculator
Enter quantity and price to get the total amount payable to your broker, including commission, SEBON fee and DP charge. The effective cost per share is what you actually paid once fees are counted — always a little above the market price you saw on the screen.
Share Sell Calculator
Enter quantity and your selling price to get the net amount credited to your account after commission, SEBON fee and DP charge are deducted. Capital gains tax is handled in Profit / Loss mode, since it depends on what you paid.
Share Profit / Loss and Break-even Calculator
The full round trip: buy side, sell side, every fee on both, capital gains tax, and your net profit in rupees and as a return percentage. It also shows the break-even sell price — the minimum price that leaves you no worse off after all charges and tax.
Share Average Calculator (WACC / weighted average price)
Bought the same stock more than once at different prices? Enter each lot and this gives your weighted average buy price — the WACC figure MeroShare shows against your holding. It is averaged by quantity, not by the number of purchases, so 100 shares at Rs. 100 and 300 at Rs. 200 average to Rs. 175, not Rs. 150. Each lot is a separate transaction, so commission and the Rs. 25 DP charge apply per lot — which is why averaging down in many small buys quietly raises your real cost per share.
Share Buy Calculator by Total Amount
The other direction: you know your budget, not your quantity. Enter how many rupees you have and the share price, and this gives the largest whole number of shares that fits — with the fees inside the budget rather than added on top, which is usually a share or two fewer than budget divided by price.
Understanding NEPSE Trading Charges
Broker Commission
Charged on every buy and sell transaction. Rate decreases as transaction amount increases (slab-based), ranging from 0.36% for small trades to 0.243% for large trades. Each slab applies only to its portion of the amount, the way income tax brackets work — not one flat rate on the whole trade.
SEBON Fee
0.015% charged on every transaction by the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON). This is separate from broker commission and applies to both the buy and the sell side, so a full round trip pays it twice.
DP Charge
Flat Rs. 25 per transaction charged by the depository participant for share transfer. Same regardless of quantity or amount — which is why it hurts small trades most: on a Rs. 2,000 buy it is more than 1% of your money, on a Rs. 200,000 buy it is negligible.
Capital Gains Tax
Tax on profit from selling shares. 10% if held for 365 days or less (short-term). 7.5% if held for more than 365 days (long-term). These are final tax rates from FY 2083/84 onward, for resident individuals. CGT applies only when you actually sell at a profit.
Two things catch new investors out. First, there is a Rs. 10 minimum broker commission per transaction, so on trades below roughly Rs. 2,778 you pay the floor rather than 0.36%. Second, fees land on both sides of a trade: you pay commission, SEBON fee and DP charge when you buy, and again when you sell. That round trip is why the break-even sell price sits above your buy price even before any tax, and why a share that has “come back to what I paid for it” is still a small loss.
